We are thrilled to announce Daniel Lee Kendall as the latest signing to the Mushroom Music family. We’ve been fixated with this Central Coast singer-songwriter since stumbling across his self-released EP Time to Spend with Ones You Love. With a voice that soars like an optimistic Nick Drake, Daniel Lee Kendall creates beautiful songs that find surf-acoustic occasionally dabbling with folktronica.

Felicity Urquhart is no doubt Australia’s country music sweetheart and the toast of Tamworth after being named FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the 38th CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, last Saturday 23rd January.
Her Golden Guitar trophy win came for current single Roller Coaster, co-written with music legend RANDY SCRUGGS.
Felicity was also a nominee for APRA SONG OF THE YEAR for her biographical collaboration with Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors), Girl In The Mall.
Dressed in a classic LEIELA mini, looking more like a movie star than country chick, the hometown girl received an eruption of applause when announced as FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR. The award comes on the back of a year of critical and audience acclaim for her 2009 released album Landing Lights.
Extending beyond fans in the awards audience, Urquhart’s colleagues and peers were also thrilled with the win with friend and fellow winner Troy Cassar-Daley unable to control his emotion.
“When she started crying … I was beside myself … I felt really, really proud of her,” Cassar-Daley said.
Having been nominated in the past but never having won, Urquhart said it was wonderful to win in front of so many familiar faces and to be recognised.
“I love this industry and I appreciate everyone’s work and I try and be part of it and promote people on the radio. So it is lovely to actually have them talking about me for a minute,” she said.
Whilst the award will remain the Festival highlight for the petite songstress, she was also invited to present on the night with Australian Idol Guy Sebastian and over the 10 day event also met with the Governor-General Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC and NSW Premier Kristina Keneally.
Urquhart’s album, Landing Lights, has received critical acclaim since its release. Signature tracks include Two Wheels, Roller Coaster, Ernie’s Daughter, Girl in the Mall and I Fall – all songwriting collaborations with some of most respected names in the business, Nick Barker, Randy Scruggs, Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Mark Seymour and Michael Spiby (The Badloves).
Felicity’s name is set to rise throughout 2010 with major events confirmed as well as touring in Australia and overseas. Her first engagement is headlining the Whittlesea Music Festival on February 12th before combining forces with Cassar-Daley to tour across Victoria mid February. Her international debut will see her tread the stages of Austria, Germany & France, the USA and Fiji.
Regarded as one of the hardest working artists in Australia, only time will tell what the prestigious award win and international exposure will bring… if rumour is right, Felicity Urquhart will continue to soar.

Anna Coddington is one of New Zealand’s foremost heroines of independent pop music. With the release of her debut, self-produced album, “The Lake” in 2008, Anna established herself as more than just a blip on the NZ music radar. She is the former front-woman for alt-pop gems, Handsome Geoffrey and Duchess, and her unique voice has graced the tracks of some of New Zealand’s finest artists (SJD, Bic Runga, Dimmer and Anika Moa to name a few).
Anna Coddington grew up in the sleepy seaside town of Raglan. By age 11 her Dad had taught her a 4/4 drum beat, by 14 she had wrangled a few guitar chords out of her Mum, and by age 16 she was fronting and writing for her first band, Handsome Geoffery. She later filled the same roles in four-piece band Duchess who independently recorded and released a 6-track E.P. in 2005. This featured the single “Raglan City”, which garnered the Juice TV “People’s Choice” award in 2007.
After Handsome Geoffery and Duchess, Anna completed an M.A. in Linguistics, a black belt in karate, and toured the world as a backing singer and support act. Finally, in 2008 Anna made the decision to distill ten years of songwriting into one masterpiece recording and made The Lake. The melancholy, hope and humour of the songs on The Lake will make your heart sink and soar in equal measure yet, as all good music should, leaves room for the listener to take from it what they will.
Anna Coddington has embarked on a number of NZ-wide tours, turning many heads and welcoming many new fans and friends to the stable….
“From the opening note I was captivated by the sincerity of Coddington's voice and the sophistication of her lyrics..... Coddington captured the essence of a remarkable performer” (texture.co.nz)
With the recent release of singles T-Shirt and Never Change, and performances last year in NZ’s favourite collaboration wonder-bands Fly My Pretties, and Eru Dangerspiel, Anna has proven herself to be a writer and performer to watch. 2010 will see her on the road in March, and returning to the studio for album two.

The Mushroom Group is proud to be associated with as supporting partner with Telstra’s Road To Tamworth and was well represented at the Grand Final Tuesday January 19.

It has been a pleasure to have Mushroom Music’s James Blundell and Felicity Urquhart performing and judging at various heats alongside Bill Page.
