30 Jun 2009 : DARRYN HARKNESS JOINS THE MUSHROOM BAND WAGON

Mushroom is very pleased to announce the recent signing of Darryn Harkness.

Multi-instrumentalist / songwriter Darryn Harkness is mostly known for his work with New Telepathics who celebrate their 10th anniversary this year, Harkness is also known as the guitarist with the UK group Serafin, who sold 40 000 copies of their debut album throughout Europe, were label mates with Muse, supported the likes of Frank Black and appeared at dozens of major European festivals.

Harkness relocated himself and ‘The Institute Of Telepathic Research’ to New Zealand in 2008 after 9 years based in the UK and Germany.

The Institute Of Telepathic Research is the nerve centre from where Harkness writes, records, paints and works with experimental video, super 8 film and photography.

In 2006 Harkness rescored the classic F W Murnau film ‘Nosferatu’ which went on to break attendance records in London after 900 people turned out to see it, this turned into sell out shows at The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland and a critically acclaimed UK cinema tour in 2007.

Before moving to the UK in 1999, Harkness was a member of From Scratch, played bass with Dead Flowers, was the drummer in Braintree and was a multi-instrumentalist with the cult band Spacesuit, he has also worked with classic New Zealand artists such as Alastair Riddell and recently Andrew Fagan.
