Music vs Physics

Biography

Music Vs Physics creators of such musical works as 'Northside Perspective','Underscore', and 'Oblong Data' return to the world of melodic story telling with their fourth album 'Slept Awake'.

'Slept Awake' journeys into ruffled bed mountains of half conscious thought only to return with a far more lucid tale of love, betrayal, fear, hope, and fantasy. The album represents both a paradigm shift and a natural progression in the sounds and methodology of Music Vs Physics.

The main driving force of the album is the voice of Rebecca Charlesworth whose vocals feature predominantly throughout the work, bringing elements of pop, folk, and blues. Joseph Bradys production, which although has it's obvious roots and techniques in the bands hip-hop and break-beat history, lends itself to a more minimalist and open approach to song writing. The album shies away from large samples and relies more on simple re-instrumentation of performance. A large portion of the drums on the album are from a recording of the bands drummer, Morgan Fayle, performing in an old abandoned barn. This gives the album more of a live feel and helps creates a space as a setting for story telling.
