Dan Sultan
Biography
Dan Sultan has continued his rise to popularity on the Australian music scene in 2008. January saw Dan perform at The Sydney State Theatre with the likes of Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody and Missy Higgins during the live performances of Cannot Buy My Soul to rave reviews.
February was Black Arm Band where he shared the stage at The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall with Archie Roach, Jimmy Little and Shane Howard amongst other greats. This was followed by The Union Of Soul Tour with Dan’s band supporting The John Butler Trio & The Waifs. The shows included all three artists sharing the stage to sing the legendary “From Little Things Big Things Grow”.
Another February highlight was the Sorry Day celebrations at Federation Square in Melbourne where Dan performed his song Roslyn, written about the stolen generation. A day to remember for all Australians with the emotion charged audience delivering a standing ovation.
March saw Dan and the band perform at Womad, Port Fairy Folk Festival, The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay and The Blue Mountains Music Festival.
In June Dan and the full band performed at the amazing Dreaming Festival in Qld and Dan appeared on ABC TV on the Spicks N Specks program.
Dan loves to perform live and with his musical cohort Scott Wilson they have put together a knockout soul band which never fails to deliver.
The latter half of 2008 will see the hotly anticipated second album released and a string of live shows including performing in London as part of Black Arm Band and teaming up with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to perform Dan’s 2007 award winning single “ Your Love is Like a Song “
